The UK barley production hit 12 year high which increase 9.8% to 6.74 million tons, highest level since 1997. Farmer in UK switch from wheat to barley that sent UK wheat production drop 18% to 14.2 million tons this year.
UK harvest 2009
Wheat= 14.2 million tonnes -17.7%
Spring barley= 4.18 million tonnes +25%
Winter barley= 2.57 million tonnes -8.4%
Oats = 731,000 tonnes -6.8%
Oilseed rape = 1.94 million tonnes -1.8%
